Emotional Support

Grief is the normal and natural emotional response to change or loss of any kind.

It doesn’t need to be fixed.

It does want to be witnessed.

General Emotional Support

DESCRIPTION

General Emotional Support sessions are intended to provide space for the identification and processing of personal, familial, or professional transitions or situations.  Once the situation is presenced, it is the intention to discover new or different ways to be with or navigate what’s happening

WHAT TO EXPECT

Begin with 3-pack of 60-minute sessions to build foundational rapport and ground for short-term support.  Additional sessions are available as needed and desired, and all sessions are held via Zoom (online).

While sessions are not technically therapy, they can feel therapeutic and can include talking and discussion as well as a combination of gentle inquiry and introspection/reflection and/or supportive suggestions.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Adults (18 and over) who:

  • have a desire to learn to be with or navigate personal, familial, or professional transitions or situations

  • feel like they aren’t thriving and would like support

  • want to be met exactly where they are with a situation

  • are interested in identifying and/or processing emotional situations

Grief Recovery Method®

DESCRIPTION

Other than death, there are more than 40 life events that can cause feelings of grief.

Some include: divorce, moving, miscarriage, retirement, pet loss, childhood trauma, and health challenges.

The Grief Recovery Method® is a 7-week, step-by-step action-oriented process that moves you beyond the pain and isolation of loss and teaches you tools that will allow you to reclaim your life.

The structure of the program provides guidance and allows for processing of all loss events.

While it's not therapy, the process tends to feel therapeutic.

It allows us to gain perspective around our experiences and recognize where grief lives in our lives.

It offers us the opportunity to identify the ways that we meet our grief and to recognize patterns and behaviors that have been present, sometimes for generations, and it allows us to be in choice about how we deal with our grief in the future.

The Grief Recovery Method® teaches us tools to navigate our grief, and help others with theirs, for the rest of our lives, and it is the only evidence based grief program in the world.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Grief Recovery Method® is an educational and experiential program that is not therapy but tends to feel therapeutic.

The complete program is seven 90-minute one-on-one sessions via Zoom (online), weekly or bi-weekly.

Information from one session builds on the next.

Homeplay is provided before sessions 2 through 7 and involves reading and writing.  The Grief Recovery Handbook: The Action Program for Moving Beyond Death, Divorce and Other Losses (Expanded Edition) is used as a guide to work through the program.
